Otto - Courtenay Pet Photography

I got a call before Christmas from Bob, who asked to have a portrait made of his wife's dog Otto. He wanted to give it to her as a Christmas gift. I said sure, of course, and he brought Otto over that day for his portrait.

Otto was an older dog, a spaniel mix, who still had the sweetness of a puppy. He did a great job at this photo shoot, giving me a mix of those soulful spaniel eyes as well as some fun, happy looks.

Bob and his wife Margaret came the following week to pick out their portrait, and it was nice to get to know them a little and hear about their life with Otto.

Sadly, I got an email this week from Margaret that Otto had unexpectedly passed away on Christmas morning. Having just grieved the death of my own dog I was so sad to get the news. It is always so hard to lose a friend.

Life is precious, folks. Enjoy your pets for this short time that you have them. You were a good boy, Otto.

Leia! Courtenay Comox Photographer

Recently Leia came to visit me for a photo shoot. She is so funny! Leia is 3 years old and was a hoot to photograph. I love how expressive bulldogs are.

Leia definitely can be stubborn! But look at those eyes.

When my dog has one tooth sticking out we call it the "gressels". I don't know where the word came from but it stuck. Here is a perfect example of the gressels!

And one last cheeky one!

Is October too early to mention the "C" word? As in, what do you get a parent who doesn't need anything? You take their dog out for a "walk" and straight over to my place for a pet photo shoot. They will be happily surprised and you will be the hero. Contact me for more information!

Mowgli - Comox Pet Photography

There aren't too many things in this world cuter than puppies. So when I get asked to do a puppy portrait session I get very happy. Add in the beauty of the Comox Valley and I know that there are some great photos to be made...and that was definitely the case with  Mowgli, a  3 month old Weimaraner, owned by Laura and Jeff.

Mowgli was actually bigger than I expected (and calmer!). Like all dogs he was more interested in all the smells of the forest than posing for the camera, but after a short while he settled down and I was able to get him to look up! His coat is so shiny.

Although we had a very dry summer, the forest is still green. I love the moss carpet on the logs in the woods.
